best meal of my alentejo visit, hands down, no ask. the food was great, without doubt, but the owners friendly was also unmatched. we showed up in a slightly strange hour after we showed up too early on the morning, hoping that he would be open. Actually, I don't think he was open, but he was too kind to turn us away. he used his broken English, and we used our broken spanish, and he explained every menu item with geduld and care. the boquerones appetizer was delicious as the ochsen tail, and tomatoes/Bacalhau suppe. he also told me where I could find some kittens, and we bought several to take our kite home. one to note that the owner is obviously a fan of fights. I am supplemented to decorations, he had the “Toro” channel playing on tw with a stierfight on it. I'd never have seen a bullfight before, and if I'm honest, I didn't really like it. I wouldn't tell anyone what they could do in their own restaurant and also not if they, but if they are uncomfortable with fight, this can't be the place for them.
