Tipico O Fado

we have been advised that the fado part of the evening would probably begin so at the venue for our dinner. because we thought that the focus of the evening was the fado, we thought that the focus on the meal would be part of secondary. we were completely wrong, as it was excellent to eat. for beginners, my wife went with the garnels, the quality and the amount of, took us both by surprise, as I rehearse a few of them. I went with the otopus, which was quite spicy, because partly on the garlic and what I thought were slitters of chili pepper. it was great. for the net went my wife with black pork, surprisingly with ananas and then as expected, punched kartoffels and spinat. my was the “Fado” steak, boiled to perfection (there is far more than I could eat though) and served with the same sweet as the black, but with orange slices replace the pineapple. both were very positiw. we had a very pleasant douro red, as recommended by andré, one of a few waiters added to enjoying the evening. and now to the fado! I had no idea what to expect, apart from what my wife had told me that she had experienced it a few years ago in lissabon. for me it came as melancholic and mournful with dramatic pauses that added the songs great feeling. the instruments that support the vocals were provided by a kerl that played a gitarre and another “Portuguese gitarre. Both were excellent when they played themselves, but also when the Fado singers were being guided. the fado was divided into four sessions, two of the female singer and two of the male, the sessions alternating. to say that both had strong voices would be an understatement, and although the songs were in Portuguese, the emotional was so strong from their voice and body language that they could not help but feel them. absolutely excellent and something we want to experience again. we finished the evening with a glass vintage port, as recommended by andré, which was a good opportunity to round off an unforgettable evening. the restaurant itself is like with a warm, cozy feeling that is added to the ambiente of the evening. would we go again? yes, yes, yes and would recommend it to everyone!

during preparation to visit porto, I have provided the fado restaurants, and decided to visit a visit in tipico o fado and wise made a table reservation for Saturday september. we received the warmest greetings, an excellent table and enjoyed a super. In the evening the fado was the real authentic event, with a female and male singer and we stayed until the end. obrigado artur and family, it is night like these and restaurants such as tipico o fado that create such lasting memories. artur newman.

the six of us loved our evening in o fado. everything was perfect and typical of a family business, as they really want them to have a great experience. service was excellent and we enjoyed everything that was recommended. a real joy. they are not... of some of the prizes it is worth. this is a traditional, professional fado house with a great restaurant. the services were very, very good (more than expected). this place is booked, but we emails and they reacted quickly. they could easily pack more tables into the room, but everything was nicely spaced apart, which was added to the ambiente. we would definitely return.

our host of airbnb has led us to this place as it was just a walk. everything was wonderful. super nice staff that will explain all wine and food options, also remember and appeal to us with names. we had the codfish with Prawns...au gratin (for and had enough for lunch the next day. in the evening there are Fado appearances that, if they can pass it properly time, between the curses of their meal. both singers (male and female) were incredible, and the guy who played the Portuguese gitarre was also amazing. it is a little on the expensive side (especially for portugal), but I think they get the power included so it works to be worth it. definitely reserve.

We loved this place. We were lucky to get in on the back of a cancellation so would recommend booking! The atmosphere is wonderful, the food was great, the staff very friendly, attentive and helpful, and the fado was just what we were hoping for!...Will definitely visit again.

Old tradition family restaurant, delicious food, fantastic and professional service. In this place you may see fado concert (very nice). I recommend it with pleasure!
