Typical Portuguese restaurant. Dish upside down, paper napkin (1 small one and at 35 euros pp with no wine and 4 beers) paper table "cloth", which quite frankly with prices catching up to Northern Europe is beginning to be unacceptable. Waiter was nice enough, but my group had native speakers. He proved yet again that he has no real idea of how to work serving in a restaurant. Setting is excellent with an excellent view, I think, because it was foggy and cold mid August, my bad luck. Food: sardines were very good. Arroz de Marisco, excellent. Cilantro not overpowering as usual in Portugal, and seafood was plentiful. Including crab legs. Waiter did warn us that the portion for 2 actually feeds 3. He was right but we went ahead anyway and were offered a doggy bag which unfortunately we had no means to carry away. The chocos panados (fried huge bricks of pota) big squid with French fries, obviously not fished locally. And yes, in case you are wandering, 3 Americans for lunch, at least one of us had to show it by ordering one of the only not fresh seafood dishes on the menu and fries. Beer was draft and good. Conclusion : good enough meal but the ever more common sensation ( in a 98% locals beach hamlet founded in 1957) that Portugal is, with quite a few notable exceptions for the moment, pricing itself out of my comfort zone compared to Spain for example.
