This is a really beautiful family run restaurant a couple of miles north of Loule . It’s set in a renovated farmhouse with a lovely terrace. When we visited on a Saturday evening we sat inside as it was a little cold outside. The food here is very traditional, lots of casserole, goats cheese and roast meats . It seemed to be a favourite of the locals as there wasn’t another tourist to be heard or seen .The food we had was very good but it lacked sophistication. It was very traditional and very heavy . We had a lovely goats cheese , honey and almond tartlet to start with and for main course we had a wild boar casserole and herb crusted lamb served with traditional vegetables. The flavours were great and the food was very tasty , very much a twist on Portuguese traditional favourites I’d imagine. For dessert we had a carob mousse , once again the portion was enormous and despite its simplicity, it was delicious. In short this is a must visit , the atmosphere, the setting and the service is fantastic. It’s very homely and very Portuguese, a great change to the more tourist orientated restaurants you find in Vilamoura and it’s immediate surrounds . What this restaurant lacks in sophistication it makes up for it heart, character and warmth.
