Asked the cook what to eat. He recommended the octopus and it was great. As the locals like it. Tender and a nice portion. Served with olive oil awesome, but maybe not to everyone’s liking. I recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner.

Visiting the historic town of Beja saw us find this lovely restaurant for lunch Tem Avond. the staff were very friendly and helpful as our Portuguese is horrible and their English was not so good either.. despite the language barrier we managed to get through the menu (Google Translate helpful too) and we ordered variety of dishes.. The food was very good and quite inexpensive.. If you are in Beja highly recommend this spot for a bite to eat!!

We were looking for an unpretentious restaurant where we could enjoy genuine traditional Portuguese cuisine and selected this via Google Maps. Olga and her team helped us with interpreting the menu but we ended up simply asking them to bring us meals that represented the local cuisine. My wife had cod prepared with spinach in a creamed potato pie. I had various cuts of grilled pork. Both meals were outstanding and exactly the sort of thing we were looking for. We had stumbled upon an excellent choice beautiful food very reasonably priced, great service from lovely people. (Visitors from New Zealand).

So a lot has changed and with the time so did Tem Avondo. From 2013 to today they keep the same food and it's quality. But recently it changed management. The first differences and reason for not getting a 5 star review was the lack of desserts and the small portions of the desserts when served. It seems the new management is still getting a hold of the place, do not disregard the place give it a try but remember my review.

Wanted a sensibly priced meal after the previous night at the Pousada. Chosen on the basis of TA reviews, low price and distance (currently a 40C heatwave). It generally met our requirements and expectations. It exceeded them in that they now have a very friendly waitress who speaks English. and German and a little Spanish, and hopes to learn French. About €7 for each of our simple but very generous main courses, and €2.75 for a perfectly ok half litre of red. Adequate a/c in the simple dining room.
