We had a great lunch here, arranged for us by Up Mountain Madeira. Very satisfying 3 course lunch with wine/beer & coffee at a great price. Definitely worth a visit.

We were on a tour of the east of the island with Lido tours (see separate review) and the driver / guide booked lunch here for those who wanted it. Fantastic garlic bread to start. I had beef skewer, my wife had chicken ... both on laurel skewers. Lots of meat, nicely cooked (BBQ?) and delicious flavour - accompanied by rice, salad, chips, veggies and polenta cubes ... more than enough to eat, followed by fruit salad. Included wine, water, beer and water.Excellent value and nice lunch.

The restaurant is popular with locals, always a good sign. We particularly enjoyed the skewered chicken and beef and the passion fruit pudding.

I admit when I got in the restaurant I did not like it. But, my husband and I decided to give a chance. Best thing we did!!! Best steak I have ate in Portugal!! Really good and really cheap. I definitely would come back.

This is a typical local churrascaria in Santana, with welcoming service (English-speaking). The food is simple but delicious. We tried the espetada with chicken and beef - huge portions, very tasty. We also tried on a second visit the steak and roast chicken, also excellent. Great salads on the side with produce that must be from the garden. Exotic local fruit for dessert. Cheap, cheerful and absolutely worth a stop if you are staying in the area.

Family-owned churrascaria, with generous portions for a tasty local experience. The price are very cheap, but with an OK food quality, and the place is open till late. Definitely worth a stop if in the area.

It appears from the other reviews that the group of people I was with (8 doing a tour of the east of the island) got to this place on a bad bad day. However, I believe that honesty is the best policy, so here we go.1. When we arrived, the restaurant looked good, was full, it came highly praised by the tour guide, the table was set for our arrival and the bottles of wine waiting. What could go wrong......2. The wine was cheap and nasty. It worked better as a dressing for the salad than a drink.3. The soup arrived after a delay of "only" 10 minutes. Well, the lukewarm soup for 2 of us arrived after 10 minutes. The other 6 people people had to wait another 10 minutes. Plus the soup,was clearly out of a packet with way too much flour for thickening.3. After a break this time of only 20 minutes.... the main dish arrived. Some people opted for the pork (they did not enjoy at all and left most of it), one person had Chicken on Skewers (looked great but apparently was not) whilst the rest of us had the meat on a skewer. The meat was not of a good quality, very very chewy, gristly and contained an (un)healthy amount of fat. It came with chips fried in I know not what, but they tasted very strange, rice and a very nice salad. If I were rating the salad, I would give a full 5 stars, but I am not and the meal only deserves one star - at best.4. 45 minutes after finishing our meal, during which time we saw the staff chatting away in the kitchen, other people being served quite regularly and all the tables which other people had eaten at simply being left and not cleared / cleaned (to the extent that a new arrival (party of 4) could not find a clear table to sit at), our tour leader reminded the waitress of our existence. A flurry of activity led to a fruit salad being produced which we had to get from the service hatch ourselves.....5. I decided to miss the coffee - we had now been at the restaurant for 2 hours for this scheduled 1 hour stop. Eventually the meal was finished and we could resume our trip - more than an hour later than planned having not enjoyed the food or the experience at all. People who read my reviews will know I try to be very honest and pass praise where due, but there is none I can find to pass about this place other than the salad.I really hope this was a one off, but I will not be returning.

We had the best meal of our whole Madeira trip in this restaurant. The portions were generous and the food was extremely tasty. We could tell that it was made from fresh ingredients and prepared really well. We had the house steak which came with an egg on top and an abundance of french fries and fresh vegetables. The "half" portion costs around 5 EUR and is actually normal sized, while the regular portion is almost too big! Other guests at lunch were mostly locals and all the food we saw looked delicious. Would definitely recommend!
