A few years ago the space in front of the cathedral was taken by cars. Then, they decided to make the area more appealing to travelers so they removed the parking lot and made the area a beautiful open park-like area. It's a great place to walk around before or after a meal and walk through the cathedral or spend time on festival days. There is a great chicken place across the street, sort of to the NW, can't remember the name but I think there was only one. They serve simple family-style roast chicken and pitchers of vino verde. Excellent.
