great restaurant next to the river. bbq grill Portuguese style was on the show next to the it area, very impressed by fresh meat and fish. we had pork, calf, salmon and kebab. You like that you could have kartoffels instead. the usual celebration as a side to fries. a lot of salad too. very impressed would recommend. look at the prices they were hard to beat, 50 euro including beer and wein. personal friendly to children.

kellner was very welcoming, he entertained restless hot kids with simple but impressive magic tricks. the portions were generous. we had horse mackerel, thunfisch and piri piri piri huhn. all very tasty.

we came to lunch and ordered a tuna rod and reserve ribs. instead of ripening, we were getting entrecote. even when I asked the waiter whether it was a nasty (which does not look that way), he replied. unfortunately the thunfish was very dry and chewing. really sad. fortunately it was not expensive, but still.

Have been visiting this restaurant for a few years. Always excellent service and excellent food, especially the Lamb Chops and Prawn Kebab.

Best Pork Clams in the Algarve! We have been lucky enough to visiit O Monchiqueiro and their sister restuarant O moinchqiueiro 2 (at the other end of the same road) on numerous occasions during the past few years. Both restaurants are to be highly...recommended and we have never had anything that has not been absolutlery delicious at either. I must say however, that at least once per visit, we just have to go and sample their pork clams. We have tried this dish at several other restaurants in the past, but these are second to none and now the only place we will have them. A bottle of wine, a portion of bread to mop up the juices and you really are in complete heaven!

Really quick lunch and it was most enjoyable. We had chicken Piri Piri served with a fresh salad and fries. The mail was extremely enjoyable, and I have to say that the staff were charming. Everyone had lots of smiles and one most welcoming. We...were sat on a table which was a little bit too close to the road, but that aside I would say that the food was still worth the compromise of noise and cars. If you are visiting this historic village, I would say it would be difficult to beat the meal that we had here.

This restaurant used to serve reasonable quality but you were always welcomed as a guest. No matter how large or small your party was, they made you feel at home. Since the new management has taken over the service has become regrettably bad. The food...has not suffered much, but after experiencing the new terrible service level twice in a row now I will definitely not visit this place again. A shame really, as it used to be one of my favorite eateries in the Portimao vicinity.
