Sever Restaurant is definitely on my top 5 favourite restaurants list. The room is only average and asking for a little maintenance / refurbishment here and there. However, this relatively minus factor is not enough to spoil the experience. We were eight people with no reservation. Nevertheless they said: "no problem at all, welcome". And it was a busy weekend night...The staff is very friendly and always ready to advise you. The menu chart is long and well assorted, with a genuine interpretation of Alentejo Cuisine: simple but always full of taste and pleasant. You may ask for anything. You will be well served with all of the options. But first things first. The bread, right out of the oven is a delight. The starters are a must. But you must reserve some space for the excellent main dishes. Before that, I recommend you to order an Alentejo tomato soup with a boiled egg. Delicious! The desserts are the "piéce de résistance". A temptation you must fall into. The range of choices is quite vast, and you may find some of it too sweet (the basis for Alentejo desserts is sugar - lots of it - and egg yolks - lots of it too). I would definitely reccommend you to go on Tecolameco (sugar, eggs and almonds)Summarizing, Sever Restaurant is a must go. If it's not wot worth a trip by itself (and maybe yes...) it's worth at least a detour from your final destination if you are on a tripm by the southern Portugal.Be sure to visit Marvão, a mere 5 minutes by car and be astonished with the views from the Castle while you digest your excellent meal...
