Restaurante Sever Grill

My wife and I had lunch here this week and in contrast to other reviews could not fault either food or service. Mind you there was only one other table being served. However, the food we found very good. It is chestnut season and the chestnut soup was first rate. This was followed by a very generous portion of wild boar stew and bacalau cooked with potatoes, eggs and onions for my wife. Both of us finished with typical Alantejo desserts with unpronounceable names. In summary we enjoyed first class regional food with great service and doggy bags to take home since we were unable to finish everything in one sitting. The restaurant is not the most atmospheric and is a little dark if one wishes to be critical but our focus was primarily on the food.

Set in Portagem, Marvão in a small area with a few restaurants available Sever makes a difference with their lit up interiors right there on the side of the road. The owner and staff are very friendly and their service comes with recommendations and always a smile. The food is genuine, using seasonal ingredients and great price to quality ratio. The complimentary sour cherry wine by the end of the meal tops the cake.

Allthough the location the restaurant is soso. Service isn't very alert, meat was supurb, veggies and fries again soso.

The food and service are very bad, go somewhere else!!! The service take too long to answer and gives poor information. The food when arrive was cold... The only good thing is the location and river view.

We've been there after a tip from our hotel.So we drove to Portagem near Marvão.There're a lot of parking lots nearby the restaurant, great!After we took a seat, the service "threw" the menu on the table and left. We weren't able to ask for an english one. As he arrived 10 minutes later with the couvert we asked for one. He tried to explain in broken bad english that there is only ONE english menu card with is currently in use by other guest. So we tried to select our menu on our own.After 15 minutes the english menu card finally arrived. When the weiter came back we ordered our meals and we reminded him of our drinks he had forgotten.Food and drinks came relatively quick and was alright (pork and lamb with fries and salad).It could habe been a wonderful evening beside the river but the poor service prevented this.Maybe we only picked the wrong waiter...

Very pleasant. If able, get a "front row" seat. As a sugestion, can order "cação" of you want fish or "porco preto" if you're in the mood for meat.

If you're visiting the incredible fortified town of Marvao this is the place to eat - just down the mountain from the town with a leafy terrace by the river.The quantity, quality, service and value was superb.I had their 'leg of baby lamb' roasted with vegetables - it was an enormous dish that could easily have fed three people, superbly cooked - and it cost just 17 Euros!This is a well-run place with staff who really know what they're doing. Do book as the locals know this place and it gets filled up fast!Would certainly go back to repeat that meal.
