We came before dinner opened but they offered us to have bacallao and carillada and the meat could be one of the best i tasted. /Sweden7373

This restaurant used to be very good but my latest visit was very disappointing. All the dishes were very salty and the restaurant was clearly understaffed which made the service rather unprofessional.
Portuguese restaurant close to the Spanish border. No surprise then to have quite a number of Spanish customers.The place is big with a big fireplace. However in winter difficult for the fireplace to sufficiently warm the room.We both took cabrito (goat) and a wine of the house. The cabrito was too spicy to our likings. According the waiter this is normal in the winter. With eastern this kind of preparations (goat, lamb…) tend to be less spicy. The service was friendly and the prices were OK.
The food is very good and the roasted chicken is among the best in the all world ... at least in former times it was! However for, during years visiting Ze Calha, we had several issues such as 1) long delays 2) forgotten requests 3) wrong bill 4) "not nice at all" reception 5) etcIn summer time stay outside. Most of the guests here are Spanish.
Great Frango piri piri. Good service and value for money. The red house wine was good. The terrace was full local people and tourists. Recommend this place if you want to order chicken piri piri.
We ate here on three occasions over a period of three weeks and were never disappointed. Food in this part of Portugal (Northern Alentejo) is traditional and meat is emphasised. This restaurant is typical of the area but what they offer is superbly cooked, often on open grills. There is a large open patio with shade from beautiful old trees and lovely views of Marvao and the local park. Menus are available in English. The roast chicken here is legendary but try the lamb and goat. Their soups are wonderful. The atmosphere is happy and easy going - a lovely place.
Been going to this place for 10 years. The porco preto skewers and chicken used to be very good. Now, they are going for the easy money ... inferior meat quality.
We used to come here many times, for the excellent Porco Iberico skewers, but since a m few years, prices are going up while quality is going down… The last meal was all fat, hardly any meat on the plate. And only luke warm … served with a plate of chips… No… think this was our last try here. Better skewers in Arronches, a Estalagem.. far better !
